When fears start shaking my world
you hold me and tell me
“everything is going to be ok”
a response that would probably make the marriage experts cringe
but when you say it there is nothing of what they would hear
nothing dismissive, patronizing or hollow
because you’ve backed it up with years of doing everything in your power to make everything ok
years of me knowing that “everything will be ok”
means that God’s grace and God’s promise to work all things for our good is something solid we both stand on
so even when everything’s not ok
it actually is
and I will keep resting in your arms and your promises as we both rest in His arms and His promises
