Thinness

I’m tired of feeling thin,

stretched

to the breaking point

But these waves are showing me that

thinness lets the light through

If they were not stretched

we would not see

that momentary, luminous, ocean green

If they did not break

crash

and tumble

down

we would not know the melody to the

song of the sea.

I hope my thinness lets Your light through

Will You tune my crashing

Till it plays

a refrain

others can listen to

and hear You?
